Deep Thoughts

Julia and I were having a gab this evening while we ran out to the store (yay for grandparents watching the kids!) Somehow our conversation leaned to the discussion of Christmas trees. My family always takes the tree down the day of or day after Christmas. Julia said that her family keeps the tree up until it won't take any more water. The following conversation evolved:

You ever think what it would be like if trees had Christmas Humans? It'd be the equivalent of putting gifts under some guy in an iron lung. You'd have the trees that would put it out the day after Christmas and others would keep it up until life just couldn't be supported before pulling the plug and carting their Christmas Human out to the curb to be picked up by the local Tree Scouts. Then you'd get the trees that missed putting their Christmas Human out on the curb and they'd ditch them along the road or in a neighbor's yard and nobody would take responsibility for them and eventually you'd have rotting flesh up and down the street. Wouldn't that smell terrible?!
