...In Which We Discover We Stink at Karaoke

I thought I'd start off the month of NaBloPoMo with our Halloween adventures.

Nate was an appropriately costumed monkey for his first full-blown Halloween. (He was only a month old last year.) He was going around the house saying "EEEEEEE!" so we knew he approved of the costume choice.

Little Miss Sassy Pants (a.k.a. Audrey) also got her first choice in costumes this year by voicing her desires to be a princess. (Because everything has to be about princesses. EVERYTHING. Except the noodles, apparently.) So we hunted down a non-flimsy princess dress, and my mother kindly made a beautiful cape to keep her warm so she wouldn't be subjected to the horrors of wearing sweats and snowboots on Halloween. It was surprisingly warm this year, though.

Another note about the blue fabric used on her cape: it's the same fabric we used for my bridesmaids/flower girl dresses over 6 years ago. We bought a huge bolt of the stuff and my mom says there's still enough left over to make Audrey a cape every year for Halloween for the rest of her life.

Door to door service in the princess-approved carriage, er wagon. It worked out well as we started around the neighborhood. Midway through our journey, we met up with the cousins and she leapt out of the wagon to go running around with them instead. Nate was looking kinda lonely all by himself in the wagon and it was pretty dark by then, so I opted to take him back home while Audrey insisted on "going to the next house" with her cousins. My brother brought her home about an hour later.

Nate didn't mind coming home early. He was pretty pleased with his spoils.

After we finally got the kids to bed (after much screeching and an unfortunate poop in the tub incident), Ammon and I sat down to try out our new karaoke game, Singstar 90s. It had a lot of songs we both knew really well (the kind you sing along to in the car), but it quickly appeared that we didn't know that well after all. Our scores stank. Ammon's somewhat tone deaf anyway, but he did better than me on certain songs. We're also bad at rapping, even to MC Hammer.

Also, little children don't sleep according to clocks. So even when we fell back an hour, they were both up with the sunrise at about 6:30. No extra hour for me.
