um, when I said I would return to the blog, I didn't mean it would take 6 months to do it. Needless to say, there's been a lot of things that have happened in our family, and I intend to blog about it all.
That being said, here's the first new addition to our family!
All shiny and new (to us)! We really hadn't intended to buy a minivan because we thought we could squeeze another carseat into the back with the other two. It was going to be a tight fit, but somehow we'd make it happen.
Then Ammon's car started throwing fits. It was a Ford. Enough said. It had been a good car and got us through several winters, but trying to fix it wasn't worth the value of the car. So we started looking. We came to the conclusion that a minivan would work best for our situation after all. We scoured several car lots online, checked our budget over and over, and made a few appointments to look at a few cars.
The first lot we went to was small but very personable. This minivan was the first one we had seen and it was impeccable inside and out. It hadn't even been detailed but it was so clean that the dealership didn't even need to do so. The mileage was low, the price was perfect, it drove great. It even had a DVD player inside (the kids quickly dubbed it the TV car and begged us to buy it right then and there). But it felt a little too good to be true. We asked the salesman to hold it for an hour while we checked out one other dealership just in case.
At dealership #2, the salesman barely said hello, showed us three very dirty minivans, took us inside the dealership where he informed us that we had to buy water if the kids wanted a drink (found the drinking fountain later) and then sat down at his desk to look up other cars that they could have brought over to their dealership for us to look at.
Ammon and I took one look at each other and came to the same conclusion. We made our excuses to get out of there quickly (as quick as a distracted three year old would let us), called the other dealer in the car, and told him we were on our way over to buy the first minivan.
When we got there, he told us he had had 5 other calls on it, but we were the first (and only!) ones to get to it first. I'm glad we went back to it so fast. It was meant to be ours!
The DVD thing is awesome during a long car ride. Bonus!
